Active and Associate Membership Eligibility and Requirements

Eligible applicants for Active Membership must be a practicing urologist in the United States, Canada, Mexico or Central America who is:

  • in possession of an unlimited license to practice medicine and surgery in the state, province or country where they practice
  • in possession of a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree (or United States Medical Licensure equivalent) and has completed a urology residency program accredited by ACGME (or equivalent accreditation organization) or the certifying board for urology in the country where practicing.
  • practicing solely in the specialty of urology.
  • certified by the American Board of Urology (ABU), American Osteopathic Board of Surgery (AOBS), or the certifying board for urology in the country where practicing.

A copy of your medical license and proof of board certification is required as part of the application.

Associate Membership

  • Eligibility requirements for Associate membership are the same as Active membership, except for Board certification.

Note: Active and Associate members must also be members of their AUA Section. Upon completion of the AUA membership application, the application will be forwarded to the applicant’s Section of residence for processing. The Section will then reach out to the applicant for a separate Section dues payment (if applicable).

*dues for Active/Associate members in countries outside the U.S. and Canada (within AUA Section boundaries) are stratified according to the World Bank classification of country. View fees by country.
