Family Medical Leave

The American Urological Association encourages medical and graduate medical education, university programs and private practice organizations to have appropriate and explicit family leave policies for students, residents, fellows, nurses (registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and licensed vocational nurses), technicians, medical assistants, physicial assistants, advanced practice nurses (to include advanced practice registered nurses, nurse practitioners and nurse specialists) and practicing physicians. Academic and private urologic groups are encouraged to make available less than full-time options and flexible work schedules to accommodate child rearing, elder care and to foster career-long opportunities that will aid all urologists, regardless of gender, to balance professional and personal obligations.
